Summary: Diverges from canon during the S5 finale. The standoff on the roof goes in Rachel's favour, and Peter and Neal struggle to deal with the consequences.

Why rec'd? Okay, full disclosure: I beta'd this. But I really didn't offer story input; it was more like begging Frith to send me more pieces of it because I had to know what happened next! This story goes AU during the season five finale, and squarely mashed down all of my h/c, friendship, and "presumed dead" squee buttons. It's also a very believable depiction of grief and depression -- a harrowing read in places, but ultimately upbeat and hopeful. Highly recommended!

In the interests of full disclosure, this fic was based on a prompt by me (I wanted to see Elizabeth pretending to be a mobster). frith_in_thorns took my prompt and ran with it! :D This fic has it all: BAMF Elizabeth; sneaky-clever Diana and Mozzie; hurt and comfort and friendship. It's wonderful!

Summary: Set post-finale. Neal's drifting, but Mozzie's found an opportunity to take advantage of, one that on the surface doesn't look too risky. Of course, appearances can be deceiving.

Why rec'd? This is a really wonderful post-finale fic - great plot with lots of action, a very likable OC, and an excellent character study of Neal and his relationships with both Mozzie and Peter.
